Beowulf Perseverance Essay - 1024 Words

Luis Manuel Flores Denogean In the poem, Beowulf, perseverance can be perceived as one of the most important factors for the success of the main character. Perseverance can be described in many ways, but the true meaning of the term is commitment. How someone stays committed with a goal or task until glory is reached, all the effort and hard work placed into the action being realized, personal reasons, and the patience had while realizing it, are the main points of perseverance. The motivation to not give up is also a very important factor of perseverance; the reward someone gets when completing a task is part of motivation. After he saw that his attack was worthless he did not give up or ran away, in fact h e looked for ways to defeat her and he finally found a sword made by giants and swung it through her neck. Beowulf clearly demonstrates that he was committed to finish Grendel’s mother because he did not give up and he finally found a solution that led him to glory. Another important factor of perseverance is motivation. How someone stays motivated is very important because motivation is what will lead the to keep going in their tasks and not give up. Beowulf completed all of his battles and tasks because he had a reason behind everything he did, that reason was his personal motivation. A factor that motivated him was to impress the Hrothgar the king. When the king asked him if he could kill Grendel’s mom, he immediately said yes. He wanted let the king see that he could defeat any monster. When he killed her, the king was very impressed because she was a very hard monster to defeat. Lastly, the most important motivation anyone can have is to beat your personal goals, to prove to your own self that you can do what you want to do. Another important motivational factor is the reward awarded after completing a task. The Awakening Free Essays

The Awakening Free Essays In her novel, The Awakening, Kate Chopin depicts a woman much like herself. In the novel, the reader finds Edna Pointillism, a young wife and mother who, like Chopin, struggles with her role in society. The Victorian era woman was expected to fill a domestic role. We will write a custom essay sample on The Awakening or any similar topic only for you Order Now This role requires them to provide their husbands with a clean home, food on the table and to raise their children. They were pieces of property to their husbands, who cared more about their wives’ appearance than their feelings. Edna initially attempts to conform to these roles, her eyes are gradually opened to capabilities of liberation. Throughout the novel, many aspects to Dean’s awakening are revealed. Dean’s emotional awakening and change in perspective on romance lead to Dean’s final awakening and her death. Edna begins an emotional awakening when she hears Mademoiselle Raise play the piano. Edna was, â€Å"very fond of music† and musical renditions, sometimes, â€Å"evoked pictures in her mind. † Hearing Adele Rotational play, Dean’s imagines a â€Å"figure of a man. † His countenance was one of â€Å"hopeless resignation. † Here the music internally affects Edna only with feelings of loneliness. Also, Edna pictures a man instead of a woman, which might suggest that early in the novel, Dean’s life is controlled by men. This control effects even her inner thoughts and emotions. Comparatively, when Mademoiselle Raise plays the first chord a â€Å"keen tremor† goes down Dean’s spinal column. Edna has heard other piano artist play. This time, hearing Raise play was perhaps the first time â€Å"her being was tempered to take an impress of the abiding truth. † Edna waits for the inevitable lonely images in her mind, but they do not appear. Instead, â€Å"passions themselves were aroused within her soul. † Edna, â€Å"trembles†¦ Ekes†¦ And the tears blinded her. Such is the physical reaction Edna has to the music. This physical reaction is described in sexual language, which shows that Mademoiselle Resizes music has awakened Edna to the possibility of sexual passion as well as emotional expression. This is the beginning of Dean’s awakening where she allows herself to fully feel and express her emotions. This emotional awakening leads to another major part of Dean’s awakening, which is her more liberated view of romance and sexuality. When Edna was a young girl, she had crazy, wild crushes, real or imagined, on the young en in her community. Her marriage to Leonie Pointillism was one of traditional convenience. Edna married Leonie in rebellion against her father, who objected to her marrying a Catholic. Edna showed her natural inclination to rebel against authority but still married into a traditional Victorian role. Dean’s relationship with Leonie was traditional and boring with â€Å"no trace of passion. † However, when Edna became acquainted with Robert on Grand Isle, she was awakened by Roberts attention and flirtatious attitude. Roberts flirtations introduce a new possibility to Edna, giving her the confidence she needed to embrace her own identity. While Dean’s relationship with Robert remains non-sexual, when she meets Alice Robin her sexual awakening is completed. Allele’s kiss is â€Å"the first †¦ Of her life to which her nature had really responded. It was a flaming torch that kindled desire. † Afterward Edna feels, â€Å"as if a mist had been lifted from her eyes’†¦. â€Å"Allowing her to, â€Å"comprehend the significance of life. † The traditional restrictions of Dean’s marriage to Leonie stifled her natural passion and required her to hide her desire for romance. With Alice, Dean’s romantic passion is liberated. She does not have to feel ashamed of that part of herself. This sexual liberation awakens in her a passion for life that she has not experienced before. Dean’s final awakening occurs when she realizes she has created a liberated world for herself, but has no one with whom to share it. Robert, the one person that seems to understand Edna, has left because he understood the consequences of her actions. Dean’s ultimate liberation traps her into a corner where she must choose to carry on with her independent, yet isolated life, or o back to the traditional Victorian wife and mother she was. Now that her awakening has occurred, there is no way she will go back to her previous â€Å"dual life†. However, she lacks the courage to face the new life she has created for herself. She decides to save her independence at the cost of a life that would have been spent in slumber. She does this by giving herself to the free and passionate Gulf. Dean’s suicide completes the message Kate Chopin was attempting to convey, women who try to liberate themselves, as they have every right to do, are ultimately defeated by society restrictions. In the last pages of the novel, the reader is assured of Dean’s weakness by the reappearing of the image of the exhausted bird falling into the water. Although, Edna awakened to the possibility of a liberated life, in the end, society weakens her, preventing Edna from pursuing her desires. Dean’s seemingly reckless abandon of her former unsatisfying life does not produce the desired results and the consequences for Edna are obvious. Throughout the novel, Edna experiences several awakenings; the most important are her emotional awakening and her resulting sexual liberation. Although these awakenings make Edna realize the excitement of living and give her the confidence to choose her own lifestyle, in the end, Victorian society prevents her from maintaining her new life. Because she is alone in her pursuit of female liberation, she is left alone. She cannot stand her lonely isolation, but also knows she cannot return to her former life. She refuses to give in to the demands of her world and gives herself to the freedom of the sea. How to cite The Awakening, Papers

The EU and US Decision to Negotiate TTIP/TAFTA

Question: Discuss about theThe EU and US Decision to Negotiate TTIP/TAFTA. Answer: Introduction: The US and the EU have come together to undertake the negotiations, i.e., Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP), between themselves keeping in consideration the economic adversities that the entire world is facing. The negotiations between these two economies will be able to reduce the tariff and non-tariff barriers that create obstacles in conducting the smooth trade relations. This will help in conducting the trade and investment relationships among the nations of the world and thereby increasing the financial strength of the countries across the world. This partnership is an ambitious attempt on the part of the two economies of the world, as it will open new scope for employment of the citizens of different nations. These two economies constitute the two developed countries of the globe; therefore, the population of each of the territories can utilize the highly profitable opportunities of these two economies. The negotiations or the agreement made between EU and U S will upgrade the economy of EU by 136 billion dollars and that of US by more than 102 billion dollars. The workers can easily migrate from the US to the EU and vice versa. The already existing strong bond between the two nations would help in boosting the economic growth by adding around 13 million jobs to both the economies. EU is the largest export market for the US and other nations of the world. EU is the largest export market that supports around 2.2 million American jobs, and they each other support nearly 7 million jobs or more. These negotiations would remove all the customs duties on the manufactured goods and services and thereby better opportunities for the companies operating in both EU and US. The possibilities of such negotiations seem to be very promising. How did Government and/or Institutional Policy makers Define or Represent the Issue? The information concerning the negotiations was not revealed to the public. This means that nobody was able to access the information without authorization. The people directly associated with the negotiation proceedings only had access to the information provided in the agreements. Both the US and the EU arrived at the decision of undertaking these negotiations because they needed to improve the economic growth of the first world countries. The negotiations were kept hidden from the glare of the public (Brightbill et al, 2012). The reason for doing so was to address the security concerns that were associated with the negotiations. A growing economy will be highly beneficial for the two countries and whole world in general. The negotiations were characterized in such a manner that would benefit the whole world (Pauwelyn, 2014). With an improved and expanded economy worldwide, there would be reduced cases of poverty across the world. Economic growth will bring about improved standards of living. Improved standards of living would help in the reduction of the level of poverty. This formed the main goals and objectives hoping to be achieved in the negotiations by the two countries (Jovanoviá Damnjanoviá, 2015). This was viewed as a solution to the high poverty levels that were witnessed across the world. The course of action released by the EU in 2014 suggested that the two countries had three major categories of discussion throughout the negotiations. These included Market Access, Specific regulation, and broader rules and principles. These were seen as the target areas for discussion between the two economies. It was believed that addressing these categories would result in adapting certain strategies that would lead to economic improvement for the two economies involved in the negotiations. (Mares, 2016). The EU explained the various concerns that the public may have as a result of the leaked information. The EU and the US have had several relations with each other for several years. In the year 1998, the Trans-Atlantic trade agreement was developed. The TTIP was a continuation of these negotiations; more than hundred CEOs from both EU and the US conduct trade and investment conferences. At least twice a week, the EU high representative meets with the US secretary of State. The EU Commission president meets on a biannual basis with the American president in order to discuss matters affecting two continents. This is gradually improving the relationship between both countries. The US and the EU have also made trade and investment agreements in Asia. For example, the EU and US developed FTA with Mexico in 1997. The EU and the US made a trade agreement with Canada in 2013 called CETA (Pauwelyn, 2014). This shows the manner in which the two countries have been in relations with one another . The negotiations of the TTIP were no different from the rest. Both parties identified a problem and sought to have discussions to provide solutions to the problem. The EU and the US expressed that regulating the economic activities would help in improving the economic status of the world and their respective countries at large. Poverty was becoming a major concern in the eyes of various leaders. The governments of these nations are trying to offer humanitarian support to poor families around the world to the tune of billions of dollars on a yearly basis. This shows the true scope of the problem that is being faced by a majority of the people in the world. Various world leaders have often raised the issue of having high levels of poverty in their countries. This can also be attributed to lack of employment (Brightbill et al, 2012). Employment, thus is presumed as one of the most accurate solutions to the problem of poverty. For this reason, the governments around the world strive to increase job opportunities in their respective countries. The issue is often represented by the calls to the private sector to provide none discriminatory job opport unities. Therefore, the governments of the US and the EU approached the problem by initiating the negotiations that sought to provide a solution to the problem faced by a majority of the countries. Did Policy makers Perceive the Issue as Potentially Beneficial or Potentially Threatening to their Interests? The policy makers perceived the situation to be potentially beneficial to the members of the society. There are various reasons as to why the situation is seen to be beneficial. The system of having an active economic process within a country is seen as a positive move to a country and the world at large. The US and the EU are in the process of ensuring that they are able to increase the size of their economies for the benefit of every citizen in the respective countries (Jovanoviá Damnjanoviá, 2015). The justification of the negotiations was hard to understand at the beginning. The intentions of the two countries in conducting the negotiations were clearly based on the intentions they explained to the public. It was highly expected that such negotiations would yield good results that would be beneficial to the international community at large. Several factors were prioritized within the negotiation processes. These were seen as the true reasons as to why the n egotiations were categorized to be beneficial to the community. High poverty levels symbolize that the members of the various communities continue living in degraded lives rather than improving them. The public society believes that the policy makers are willing to uphold (Pauwelyn, 2014). However, providing a solution to the problem would improve the lives of the people living within the community. When the employment opportunities will rise, the people across the nations will be in a position to cater to every need. It will facilitate an improvement of the living standards. The policy makers institute various regulations that will encourage the employers within the countries to increase job opportunities. If people are not working, they will not be able to sustain themselves. For this reason, the policy makers and the governments have categorized this as a serious factor. The solutions obtained from the negotiations will be highly beneficial to the society. The policy makers created awareness of the benefits that were associated with the negotiations. The relationship between the two countries will be heightened because of the negotiations. For example, the citizens of both countries will experience free and fair trading activities. Bans that had earlier been imposed on the trading activities will be revoked (Lu, 2014). This will facilitate the growth of trade between countries. The good relationship will result in the reduction of the price of goods and services from different countries. Cross-border trade will help in improving the economic activities that are practiced by the citizens. Policy makers argued that the two nations in negotiations would strive to benefit their economies. The negotiations looked at the benefits they would first gain. However, these benefits will be spread to the rest of the world. The people living in both the EU and the US will begin to start enjoying the benefits of these negotiations as soon as they are completed and finalized. The gesture seems like it is good when the desired outcome is analysed. The policy makers make perceptions over the current situation of the negotiations. They provided information about the status of the negotiations and the large benefits they would have to the communities living within the two countries and the world at large. Policy makers believe that the TTIP negotiations will improve the economic nature of countries across the world (Mares, 2016). This will be accomplished by the increase in economic activities that will be witnessed in the global economy. Policy makers believed that the economy could expand with an increase of trade activities that are conducted within the trade sector. The poverty levels in various sections across the world are constantly increasing. This has led to the reduction in the standards of living. It is crucial to educate the people on the importance of engaging in economic activities. People who are beginning to see the importance of spending their money to buy goods and services characterize a growing economy. The key is to ensure that money is constantly in circulation and this can be done through the rise in the rate of employment. The partnership trade negotiations are seeking ways to which people can be persuaded to spend their money. This will reduce the culture of saving money. Saving is a spirit that has been engraved in the mind and hearts of many (Grether Mathys, 2010). This causes the money to remain stored in the possession of consumers. Consumers should be urged to spend their money. This is the key to economic growth. Several policy makers have the need to meet their interests through these negotiations and strategies. However, the negotiations were seen as potentially beneficial to some of the policy makers in that trade relations within the EU and the US will be upgraded. Improved trade relations means that the policy makers will be in a position to exercise the new trade opportunities that will have come up after the negotiations. Aside from the interests of the society members, the policy makers stand a chance to benefit largely from the opportunities provided by the negotiations. New trade treaties were developed, which opened new vistas in the field of trade activities with different communities (Crook, 2013). This has reduced the workload cut out for the policy makers in terms of developing policies that will help regulate and govern the economic activities that will be taking place. Ultimately, the perception of the issue under negotiation is highly dependent on the personal issues that ar e being observed by an individual. This means that the policy makers observe their personal interests as well. A majority of the policy makers will benefit from the solving of the problem. What possible alternatives did policymakers consider, or fail to consider, that might have been taken into account? The negotiating countries have had some things that they overlooked during their negotiations. There are billions of people on earth. For this reason, it is difficult to satisfy the needs of every individual. When conducting such huge negotiations, it is the responsibility of the negotiators to ensure that they satisfy the needs of the majority of the people. The argument is that when a large group of peopleis satisfied, they will influence the other people who were on the other end. This will result in an improvement of the lives of the people in these countries (Jovanoviá Damnjanoviá, 2015). For example, the negotiators had a view that the partnership would benefit the economy of the world. As much as the US and the EU would benefit from these negotiations, the rest of the world would benefit from it as well. This is despite the fact that other people were not involved in the negotiation process. The policy makers considered the possibility of passing on the benefits to the rest of the world. This concept was discussed, and a solution was arrived at. The potential benefits of the negotiations indicate that the world economy would increase by 100 billion pounds. This is alongside the fact that the individual economies of the EU and the US would increase as well. However, the economy of the EU would increase much more than that of the US. This means that the EU is benefiting more than the US. Despite these results, the ultimate outcome of the negotiations is still good, and a majority of the communities around the world would benefit and begin experiencing better standards of living. The policy makers did not just put their interests first (Brightbill et al, 2012), they also considered the interests of the other people living on the planet as well. This can be the basis of the negotiations that were conducted between the two countries. However, the policymakers have omitted some elements during the initiation of the negotiation process. The policy makers did not remember to assess the perception of other people in the world. The omission of other countries in the Partnership trade agreement would make them feel as if they have been neglected in the negotiations. Such huge talks should involve a lot more countries, other than just the two countries that are involved. The problems they were facing are those that are affecting all the countries of the world. Before the negotiations could begin, the two countries would have strived to include more countries in the negotiations. The outcome of the negotiations would affect the economies of all countries in the world (Harris, 2010). For this reason, the policy makers should have considered, including the other nations in the negotiations as well. Including other countries would have resulted in the addition of new concepts and ideas that they might have. Also, people liv ing in othercountries are better aware of the challenges they face in their respective countries. For this reason, they should be allowed to air their views and contribute towards proving a global and lasting solution to some of the problems being faced. This move could improve the desired outcome of the negotiations that are taking place. By ensuring that this provision is included, the policy makers would have made the other members of the world feel as if the negotiations are looking into their best interests. The larger number of people involved in the negotiation process, the better the ideas that will be developed from the negotiations (French, 2015). It is crucial for the policy makers to look at the best possible outcome of the negotiations. The idea is to ensure that the best of the desired goals are achieved. However, the policymakers were reluctant to release this information to members of the public. This was one of their best-guarded secrets. The draft leak that occurred in the year 2014 was met with a strategy to restore the level of security for the information that was discussed at the negotiation conference. They found it to be best to hide this information from the public. However, people in the world have a desire to access this information. The leaders are not in a position to define what problems t he local communities are facing. The policy makers had the obligation of ensuring that sectors of the economy are adequately examined and assessed. Omitting some sections will result in uncertainty of the public. There were some security concerns regarding the negotiations. This prompted the high level of secrecy in the negotiations. These concerns were legitimate, because if the information fell into the wrong hands, there are some consequences that would have been incurred. It was the view of the policy makers that the information is held in secret to ensure that it is safeguarded against any malicious threat. It would have enabled the negotiations to go on smoothly (Crook, 2013). The TTIP negotiation talks conducted by the US and the EU invited other policy makers to help in ensuring that the talks were successful in contributing to some of the factors that may have been omitted from the beginning of the talks. This would be the finished product that would achieve all that was promised. The finished product would be used as a gauge guide on the progress that has been made with the partnership. However, another alternative would be to ensure that the negotiations were completed within the s tipulated period. Extending the timeline will reduce the level of confidence from the public on the negotiating team. What were the Main successes and/or Failures of the Decision? Some successful elements were brought about by the negotiations. The intentions of the negotiations are to improve the trade activities between the EU and the US. For this reason, it is expected that the benefits would be tailored to these two continents alone. The realistic perspective that has been displayed by the policy makers is that the negotiations would increase the economies of every country in the world. These two countries have some of the largest economies in the world. For this reason, their impact will be felt throughout the world. The increase in the economies belonging to the two worlds would affect the additional countries in the world to ensure that the rest of the world has felt the benefits as well. There are increased chances that any country in the world would conduct trading activities with these countries. For this reason, it is important to ensure that the relationship between these countries and the trading countries have been addressed in the best way possi ble (French, 2015). Trading activities are conducted throughout the world. This was considered as a major success for the negotiating team. The results that would have been achieved from the process indicated that the process was a complete success. The increase in the economic capacity of the world was identified as the biggest gain of the negotiation. Improving the standards of living for people across the world would reduce the level of poverty in the world. Poverty has been a major problem that world leaders have been trying to eradicate. People usually work tirelessly to increase their income and reduce the level of poverty they are in. These benefits would help the people in different parts the world to begin understanding why the negotiations were conducted, the benefits they would bring to them. Creating this awareness would help in ensuring that the people have the adequate knowledge to eradicate poverty in their lives (Mares, 2016). The negotiations would develop new guidelines and restrictions that would ensure the standards of living are improved. The new guidelines would eliminate the ancient old regulations that existed. They would reduce the number of barriers that hindered trade activities take place smoothly. A lot of bureaucracy is witnessed in the cross-border trade systems. For this reason, the level of economic trade is limited. A majority of the countries in the world is seeking to benefit themselves through trading activities. However, the process has proven to be difficult because of the stringent security features that have been placed. Trust is a major aspect that hinders various operations in the world. Countries are looking to protect themselves and their citizens from the harsh external environment. Breaking these barriers would be the key to improving international trading activities. Increase trade levels would result in improved economies. This would ultimately result in improved standards of living. Improved living standards would cause the level of poverty to reduce across the world (Harris, 2010). Economic activities would result in increased circulation of money, which is good to achieve all the goals of the negotiations. On the other hand, the policy makers failed in including other countries in the negotiations. The result of the negotiation talks would affect all countries of the world. For this reason, they should be involved in the process. This would have given an opportunity to air their views and opinions. In any gathering, two minds are better than one. For this reason, the more people brought on-board to the negotiating table; the more likely the outcome will be better. However, this was felt to be a burden on the policy makers. Organizing the logistics of the process where various leaders are expected to grace the occasion, would have been a headache for them. Therefore, the policy makers failed in including other countries in the negotiations. These high profile dignitaries would be attending the session (Lu, 2014). For this reason, a high level of security detail at the conference would need to be implemented. The negotiating countries sort to eliminate this burden by limiting the number of countries that were involved in the process. Also, they would have an opportunity to discuss matters that affect them alone. The benefits of the negotiation were so big that they would spill over to the rest of the world. This forms part of the good news that was associated with the partnership deal. Inviting the rest of the country for the conference would be a logistical nightmare for the organizers trying to ensure that everything runs smoothly. The decision to engage in the trade negotiations between the US and the EU has yielded some positive outcomes in the community. Countries in the world will be able to improve their economic status, because of these negotiations. The general outcome of the forum would be very beneficial because the interests of the policy makers will have been satisfied. This forms one of the decisions that were made by the policy makers. They put the interests of other people before them. This caused them to practice generosity. On the contrary, they would have opted to have their independent talks that would not result in any benefit to any other person or country. These would have been their selfish gains. However, thinking of the rest of the community members is a wise decision (Grether Mathys, 2010). It also yielded positive results for them and the world at large. This was successful because it raised the standards of living for a majority of the people in the world. The scope of the discussion s incorporated the larger part of the world. This was aimed at spreading the benefits to them through the decisions that were arrived at. However, the benefits that were carried through the negotiations would benefit the two countries more. Additional benefits would be reflected in the rest of the world, by the fact that they will be interacting with these countries through trade activities. Conclusion: The entire discussion regarding the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP) or the Transatlantic Free Trade Area (TAFTA) makes it evident that the agreement or the proposal that would be made between the two economies of the world would be able to ensure benefits for the entire world. As and when the monetary status of the first world countries will raise the condition of living and income opportunities would also increase throughout the world. The expansion of the trade relations due to smooth partnership between EU and US will create new vistas for the population across the world. They can migrate from one region to another without any such said barriers, and can seek suitable employment in the EU and US. The poverty that is prevailing across the third world countries would decrease when the free export and import of the goods would become possible all around the world. Very high value products especially the agricultural products, such as cheese, hams, wine, olive oi l, chocolates and spirit to US, if high tariffs placed at US customs are removed and vice versa, then the farmers can receive a boost in their economic growth. Such strategies would help in creating an overall development of around 800 million citizens across EU and US. The agreement will also assist in benefitting the Europeans by opening more possibilities to trade and globalization. The European firms can easily have an active participation in US and the US companies can also open their branches for more profit in the regions of EU. The market of EU will be also able to get cheaper American Imported items with more varieties. List of References Brightbill, T., Laroski, J. A., Sullivan, T. O., Bentes, P. M., Smith, P. eBay Company Case

Background The eBay Company has been in existence for 18 years. The company provides an online marketing platform for used, refurbished and new products across the globe. Besides, the company offers the online money transfer service called the PayPal.Advertising We will write a custom essay sample on eBay Company Case specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More Due to stiff competition from other online marketing companies, the growth of eBay has been unsteady since 2007. At present, eBay wishes to reclaim its lost glory as the market leader. Specifically, the company’s C.E.O Mr. Donahoe is facing the dilemma of balancing expansion and sustainability as more competitors penetrate the online marketing industry. Recommendations The first recommendation is to adopt an operation efficiency strategy to reduce cost of running the company so as to increase the net profit. Secondly, the eBay company should adopt consumer centricity strategies to tailor its products to the preference of consumers. Thirdly, the company should carry out content development and intense advertisement in the media to create awareness of its new products. Finally, the company should create a dynamic and functional team within its expansion structure to ensure sustainability of the gains made. Basis for the recommendations Operation efficiency Operational efficiency and market niche provide an indication of how well the company manages its resources, that is, how well it employs its assets to generate sales and income. It also shows the level of activity of the corporation as indicated by the turnover ratios. The level of activity for the eBay has remained relatively stable despite the threat of competition, and constant change of taste and preference. In order to stay afloat, the company should streamline its operational costs and introduce freelance marketers paid on a commission. These marketers will operate from their homes to save the comp any’s daily expenses of running its business from a central point (Aaker 31). Through implementing this proposal, the company will reduce its wage bill and seal cost loop holes. Consumer Centricity Properly designed online marketing and product distribution management facilitate the success and sustainability in online marketing. To increase credibility and maintain professionalism, the current channels of reaching the consumers at eBay should be tailored to encompass processes and features that flawlessly facilitate a healthy and a lifetime relationship between the business and its clients.Advertising Looking for essay on business economics? This strategy will ensure that the business is sustainable. As opined by Kotler (2007), the desired awareness created in the online platform and different distribution packages is essential in sustaining online trade. For instance, the safety and security of the customer over the cyberspace trading platform have become such an important issue in determining consumer behavior (Kotler 29). Thus, introduction of a Secure Online Shopping System (SOSS) is vital towards survival of the eBay business. Secure online shopping system is a platform where consumers are able to make orders on a particular product and make payments using their credit cards. Introducing the modified SOSS platform at the eBay company will ensure the safety and security of clients interested in the company’s product. Functional team Essentially, the success of e-marketing depends on proper alignment of a functional team that is responsible for the creation of flexible and quantifiable measurement tracking tools fo r reviewing results periodically. Reflectively, the eBay company should introduce a functional team with the essential knowledge in social media and tools used in marketing via the Internet. Besides quality in service, delivery and customer satisfaction depend on the support team as indicated in the distribution channel of its competitors’ online marketing segment. Therefore, customer retention is achievable through the creation of reliable, informed, and passionate support team at eBay (Kotler and Gary 12). In addition, the plan should include a monitoring matrix that maps out potential competitors and identifies online weaknesses and strengths of the eBay clients. Moreover, the reporting criteria for the eBay business should reflect the success of marketing calendar and set periodic targets (Koufaris 216). Creation of content and advertisement Creation of content is extremely essential when dealing with internet marketing communication within the industry that eBay operates in. It is necessary to determine the online behavior of the target market before selecting the best channel for internet marketing at the eBay to minimize the issue of changed consumer preference. The new content at the eBay should be given time to enhance its online presence by constantly updating information on current product trends (Kotler and Gary 9).Advertising We will write a custom essay sample on eBay Company Case specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More Essentially, success of brand and product management depends on a proper alignment of a functional idea into the creation of flexible, involuntary, and quantifiable measurement of perception among the target audience. The eBay company should realize that promotion of its products is not merely an advertising function. It should come up with both advertising campaigns and promotional strategy that is defined by the nature of the market, the size of the market, and the preference s of its customers (Koufaris 216). Alternatives, risks, and assumptions The main alternative was to adopt a highly structured and broad differentiation strategy in designing market segmentation policies. This alternative was not suggested since it aims at establishing the broadest possible mechanism for optimizing returns in the same way as the operation efficiency strategy. The risk may be the inability to dwell on specific features which make the eBay’s products unique and appealing to target clients since consumer preferences in this industry are unpredictable. Public Speaking Informative Essays

Public Speaking Informative Essays Public Speaking Informative Essay Public Speaking Informative Essay Essay Topic: Informative Public Speaking Informative Speech Outline SPE 102, January 8th 2009 TITLE: Obtaining a 4 year degree through Burlington County College GENERAL PURPOSE: To inform my audience of different methods they can use to obtain a four year degree through Burlington County College. SPECIFIC PURPOSE: Burlington County College offers many opportunities for advancement whether it is a stepping stone to a 4 year college, an entry into an accredited program through guarantee transfer, or the ever expanding bachelor degree completion program at Burlington County College. INTRODUCTION I attended Rutgers for a year. I was also actively involved in Air Force ROTC (Reserve Officer Training Corps) for those two semesters. I maintained a respectable GPA and made quite a few friends. With that being said, I’m sure some of you are thinking â€Å"well then why is he standing up in front of a class at BCC right now then? † The honest truth is because I was not well informed on the different degree seeking programs offered here at Burlington County College so that’s what I am here to discuss with you today. Burlington County College offers many opportunities for advancement whether it is a stepping stone to a 4 year college, an entry into an accredited program through guarantee transfer, or the ever expanding bachelor degree completion program at the college. If you have the determination, Burlington County College can get you there. BODY I. Some students prefer to use BCC as a stepping stone to four year institutions. 1. There is a significant cost difference when attending a community college and a four year institution. . According to collegeboard. com, the most up to date source on college related material, the average surcharge for full time, out-of-state students tuition at a public four year institution is $10,867 per year. b. According to Burlington County College, the most up to date tuition pricing chart states an in-county student pays $96. 50 per credit hour or the equivalent of $1,351 for full time status, assuming the student is taking 14 credits. c. Without consideration of other fees and expenses related to attending a four year institution, the average student can expect to save an excess of $9,500 a year on credits alone by attending Burlington County College. 2. Many four year degree programs follow a generic outline of four semesters of core classes and four semesters of classes geared towards the appropriate major. a. With this four and four design, students can seamlessly transfer credits and still be on track for the same graduation date of someone that attended the four year institution from the start. . Another reason to consider doing the first four semesters at a community college is the classroom design. A student could expect to have an excess of 300 people in a lecture at a large four year institution where as Burlington County College lectured classes hold a max capacity of around 80 students. 3. Many Students coming out of high school are still undecided on their major or may switch majors during their college c areer. According to Louie Bottaro, an academic advisor for the college of liberal arts at Oregon State University, about 80% of students who start college will switch their major at least once. a. By attending a 2 year institution, a student has the capability to switch their major with little or no impact on future ambitions with regards to graduation. b. By giving a student the opportunity to freely change their major with little impact, they are given a longer opportunity to mature and make career decisions that could affect them for the rest of their lives II. A unique opportunity that some 2 year college’s offer, including Burlington County College, is a program called the guarantee transfer program. This program is designed to place students that meet certain criteria into a particular four year institution for a seamless, uninterrupted flow for obtaining their four year degree. 1. For some students attending college, high school grades may be an issue for admittance into some four year institutions. a. Many accredited four year institutions require a certain standard in which their prospective students must meet. For some, these standards include a particular GPA, or Grade Point Average, in which they may not comply with by the end of their high school career. The guarantee transfer program gives the prospective student the ability to enter a program they may have been previously ineligible for, assuming they meet all criteria for that program. b. By establishing criteria for admittance into these programs, a student is able to clearly establish their baseline and thus set themselves up for success early on. 2. Not only does the program give the student the opportunity to enter programs they may have been previously ineligible for, it gives them the same opportunity to graduate with in the same time frame of a student who attended all four years at the same institution, but for a fraction of the cost. a. As stated earlier, tuition rates amongst community colleges and four year colleges are substantially different. By entering the guaranteed transfer program, a student could expect to save an average of over $19,000 by attending the first two years at a community college. b. In doing so, if a student desired to work they could continue to do so at their current place of employment (assuming they had one). By continuing to work it gives students a couple more years to save so the financial burden isn’t as great. 3. For Some students, the thought of entering college could send them into panic mode. a. By entering a two year institution knowing you have the same opportunities as an individual who entered a four year institution direct out of high school, a two year institution could help with the transition phase from high school to college without the initial huge lifestyle adjustment. b. You know the expectations you have to work towards in order to achieve your goals and in doing so, you can eliminate the interruptions that many students face regarding their first year of college when attending a four year university. III. Another unique opportunity that BCC students have is bachelor degree competition programs at BCC. The bachelor degree completion programs allow students to not only obtain their bachelors degree at BCC but it allows them to do it at a fraction of the cost of attending the particular school in which it is hosted through. 1. Perhaps the best feature in regards to the bachelor degree completion program is the savings the student can expect to see by doing so. These savings come not only in cost per credit hour but these savings can be attributed to other situations as well. a. Many college students are strapped for cash as it is so they tend to find places to save. One of the most expensive luxuries in life is having a place to stay that puts a roof over your head. By attending one of the BCC bachelor’s degree completion programs, a student is usually able to stay within their current living situation whether it is with their parents, guardians, or an apartment they share with friends. b. If a student were to stay on campus at a four year institution, they could expect to pay an average of $7,748 a year on room and board alone according collegeboard. om for the 2008-2009 school year. 2. In saving money with the bachelor’s degree completion program, a student could also expect to save a considerable amount of time in travel. Most bachelor degree completion program centers can be found on either the Mt. Laurel campus or the Willingboro campus. By centrally locating these degree completion centers a student is able to spend considerably much les s time traveling thus allowing for more time studying. 3. By attending one of the bachelor degree programs at BCC, it gives you the opportunity to earn the same degree that an individual would earn that actually attended that school on campus. a. The degree you earn is a degree direct from the college in which you earned it from. It does not note anywhere that the degree was completed at BCC and the certificate holds no less value then one of someone who obtained theirs from attending on that specific college’s campus. b. Along with obtaining the same degree, you have the opportunity to earn it in the same amount of time as someone that would have earned it the CONCLUSION So whether you just need Burlington County College as a stepping stone for your future or you have intentions of utilizing their guarantee transfer or bachelor degree completion program, Burlington County College can help get you there. If I had the opportunity to start all over again, you can guarantee Burlington County College would have been my first stop. Visual aid: Hand Out

Poetry of the World War I Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 6750 words

Poetry of the World War I - Essay Example The men’s poetry that is more prevalent and has come to play the dominant role in the view offered about World War I. Part of this reason is that a considerable part of the 500 odd poems that have been written by women as surmised by Khan have not formed a part of the body of mainstream poetry. The poetry of the World War I is especially significant because of the new poetic form that arose – trench poetry. These poems were written in stark, simple rhyme, not mincing words in portraying what the war was really like. Therefore these poems served to bely the existing notions of patriotism linked with war and cast doubts upon the notion that war was necessary in order to restore man’s faith in God. Such large scale and destruction could scarcely be justified as a godly act, neither could the deaths of so many soldiers be said to have occurred for a cause that justified those deaths. Therefore, trench poetry represents a landmark in English poetry – it led to the emergence of a new realistic form of poetry that was quite different from the romantic, flowery idealistic kind of poetry that existed before the War. It may also be argued that Georgian poetry set the foundations for the emergence of trench poetry, with its emphasis on reporting only what was actually seen with the eyes.

Consumer Law Case Study Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 2000 words

Consumer Law - Case Study Example Judges are confined to the law made by the parliament they are to interpret the law according to the context of the case and decide keeping the spirit of the statute Law intact. Since statue law is precise and fundamental it cannot see the roots of the case, therefore the judge made law makes these gaps in deciding the cases in the interest of justice. Consumer law in UK is of 30 years old. It developed as the years passed on. It is now having substantial number of Acts and Regulations to provide the justice to the consumers. Due to the electronic revolution and increased competition and improved marketing system the consumers face a lot of hardships and are subjected to cheating and undue inducements. To protect them from these hardships the consumer laws are expanded to meet requirements. These consumer laws are made so simple and so logical that there is no ambiguity in understanding these laws even by a common man. And the relief it provides is as that what a man of ordinary prudence think with regard to the trader and what he feels just and reasonable. If any trader gives a wrong goods than what you ordered a common man says the price of such goods need not be paid. This is exactly what consumer law also says. Still the knowledge of consumer law is important since it gives more than what customer thinks deserved to get from a trader. In the above example a person without any legal knowledge thinks he need not pay for the product but consumer law says more that he deserves an extra amount from the trader as compensation. Consumer law protects the customers from the negligence, irresponsibility and wrong doings by the traders and there by makes consumers suffer. When can we say that the trader is at fault We can say that they at fault when they do not follow the law relating to the trade and they do not pay adequate attention to the consumer's needs and when they follow the unfair trade practices to gain undue profits at the cost of consumers etc. There are statues and laws made to regulate the trade such laws are Sale of Goods Act 1979 (as am emended), Supply of Goods and Services Act 1982. Other laws which are also known as consumer laws and which the consumer shall have a minimum and basic knowledge about them to safeguard themselves. These laws will be discussed later in this issue. These statues lay down principles that the traders should follow and all the traders are to abide by this law. Sale of goods Act prescribes certain conditions that good sold shall comply such as quality, quantity, tim e etc to the satisfaction of the consumers. Sale of goods act is also a contract which mutual agreement between the customer and the trader. The trader is bound to supply the agreed quality, quantity within the agreed period of time. Simultaneously the customer is also bound to pay the amount as agreed once the trader performs his part of agreement. If any defect in the product is made known to the customer and the customer agrees to buy with the defect then later he cannot take shelter of defect in the goods and pray for compensation or exempted from payment of the price. The burden of proof of the trader's failure or wrong is always lies on the customer except in specific condition such as where the trader gives guarantee of the goods of its life and the product does not lost for the guartee time in this condition it is the trader to prove that the product has fulfilled its guaranteed period etc. In every

Cadburys Business Functions

Cadburys Business Functions Within every company there are organisational functions. I am going to investigate the main functions of the famous chocolate company Cadbury. Cadbury is a very successful business and have over 70,000 employees working for them. For Cadbury to remain a successful business it has to maintain some structure and business functions to be able to meet their aims and objectives. Throughout my findings of Cadbury the main activities of the following areas are what help and maintain the objectives that have been set by the business and allow Cadbury to continue to have a success an reach their aims. The production department is the department that produce the products. The department has to be in control of the turnaround of the production. When producing a product, materials and labour values are added so that the products can meet customers needs. The production team need to have a high maintained system to be able to provide, produce and reduce the amount of food waste within Cadbury. You would find that the production team in Cadbury would be concerned with the following issues: Cost of production The condition of the means of production Keeping production going Health and safety Keeping employees motivated Keeping up to date with technology Satisfying the requirements of customers Maximising the use of plant Minimising the waste of materials Finance: The finance department is the department that controls and deals with the money. The finance department are responsible for keeping all financial records and documentations of money that comes in and out of the business. The finance team are responsible for submitting tax reports and company registration. Once HR have agreed the salaries and bonuses that the staff at Cadbury are entitled to they then would issue all wages and preform the relevant tax reductions or national insurance contributions. The finance department control all giving budgets to each department, this is set in place so each department can achieve their objectives and do not waste money. Managers see these budgets and compare the sales and targets that had been met and the finance department then make plans for the future that will help the business to achieve its objectives. Human Resources One of the key roles of this department is the ability to keep everyone happy; they are concerned with the welfare of the staff, people whom come in contact with the company and welfare of the business by following employment laws and ensuring health and safety. When you have happy staff you have motivated staff and this helps to achieve the objectives. HR is also responsible for all training that has to be taken to ensure the company are up to date with the way the company functions and that all health and safety is being met. HR department employ and deploy staff as they would be fully trained in ethical issues and again the employment laws and ensure the equal opportunity procedures are in place and being followed, this avoids any law suits and trade union issues. Administration and IT The administration department within Cadbury are the department that provide support to all other departments within the organisation, they create a working order, which provides routine and functions smoothly. This support could be invoicing, photocopying, letter writing, posting the mail, collecting the post and distributing it correctly throughout the departments, attending meetings and taking minutes and then typing them up, keeping records of relevant information on the business, maintaining the computer systems, software, the security of the systems and the building and security and cleaning. Marketing and sales Marketing is the department that identifies the customers needs by carrying out marketing research alongside the research and development department, they develop the right products and promotions that need to be focused on within the needs and requirements of products requested by the companys customers and this helps to increase profit and keep the sales teams achieving their targets and objectives. To achieve the companys objectives the marketing team must get 4 main areas right: Products they must identify what is suitable for the target market, what brings total satisfaction to the customers, what customers would like them to produce, what is selling the most or what could do with some extra support due to low sales. Price- They must investigate the going rates or other suppliers to assure they dont overprice or under-price a product. Place- To identify where and what areas are selling certain product this would benefit the production team as they could work a system out to avoid waste and additional losses. Promotion-To identify where and when to promote a product, for example if a Christmas limited addition product became available, it would be irrelevant to advertise or promote this product in February. The above 4 areas help Cadbury to achieve at least 2 of their objectives: to be the number one product in a given market maximising profit Research and development Within the research and development department is where the staff at Cadbury investigates new products and try and improve the sales of existing products, this would involve going out and using different research mythologies, the staff in this area would perform surveys, experimental research and even observational research. They would examining competitors and try and find a gap in the market for any new product. The research and development department have to work very closely to marketing and productions to be able to achieve the right results to turn the findings of the research into useful products that will help Cadbury to achieve their objectives. Customer services The customer services department is to assure the customers are 100% happy with the products and services that Cadbury provide; within in this department they deal with customers questions and concerns. This department will help to gain a customers trust back if an unfortunate error has occurred. Having un-happy customers can affect Cadbury objectives, and having well trained professional staff to assist in certain areas of customer services can help promote and regain customers trust, to be able to meet the objectives. The managers This would be the people who wants order, control they love structure and high performance they like everything to be out into its place, unlike the technician who strives off of detail and knowledge and how to perform the task, the manager loves the order and they want everything to be done in a manner that gives consistency. The Entrepreneur This would be the person inside of you that strives for the business, dreams and focuses on the business becoming bigger and more known to the world. Sometimes you would find that the technicians and the manager seem to take over and forget about the person striving to make the business more of a success, to provide them with more jobs that can resolved or more jobs to organise, going out there to market the business, to make a business a really great business, you have to allow the dreamer to dream, you have to be able to work on your business not just in your business. As you can see from my examples above the manager and the technician work in the business and the entrepreneur works for the business. Each person has relevant tasks so that the objectives can be solved so the aims can be achieved Business Objectives of Cadbury and how they relate to the stakeholders Cadbury aims and Objectives Cadbury aims are what they want to achieve in the long run, and objectives are used to high light how those aims are going to be achieved. Objectives can be in a form of targets and challenges for the business to achieve the aims. Cadbury aims are to: Maximise profit To be the number one product in a given market To maximise sales To grow To operate in a wide range of markets Have a good reputation To provide freedom for workers to express themselves and suggest ideas to help the business Achieve best possible financial return on capital Boost or maintain share market values Cadbury use aims and objectives as they are the foundation for decision making within the company. It provides long term thinking its measurable and controlling and it motivates and inspires workers and employees, its direct, it focuses on efforts and unifies the company and most importantly it communicates with shareholders and employers regarding the businesses future. Cadbury use the S.M.A.R.T objective method to set their short term objectives. These objectives have to be set for the business, products or services. Specific The objectives should specify what Cadbury want to achieve, for example they may want to achieve a 3% market share in 12 months. Measurable The objectives should specify how you are going to measure whether you are achieving the objective. For Example a 3% market share over 12 months means that each month market share targets can be measured. Achievable The Objective must be achievable and attainable. For example Is the 3% objective for the 12 months achievable? Does Cadbury have the resources, man power and finances to achieve it? Realistic Can the objectives realistically be achieved with the resources you have? For example: Is the 3% objective over a 12 month period realistic or does the company need longer? Does the company have the skills and resources to achieve this over the time period set. Timely When do you want to achieve the set objectives? Without a timescale it is difficult to set dates for the achievement of key tasks and milestones. For Example: In our company have set themselves a period of 12 moths to achieve the 3% market share. Stakeholders A stakeholder is a person or an organisation that takes interest into a business and are there for effected by the way that it may be run; this would be in the areas of success and failure. Stakeholders can be people within the business or outside of the business; the different types of stakeholders can hold different views and can affect the way the owner wants to conduct the business which can affect the aims and objectives. I am going to give some examples on stakeholders and how they can affect the aims and objectives of Cadbury. Workers/employees To be able to give the workers/employees a sense of ownership the company must keep them up to date with what is going on with the business; this helps to improve performances and motivates the employees. The workers/employees are main stakeholders in the business because their motivation and happiness keeps the performance of the business running smooth and relies on them for the business to survive. Employees at Cadbury are called internal stakeholders; Cadbury have meetings to inform colleges about any changes and hear their views on the running of the company. Cadbury use research skills to find out if the employees are 100% satisfied or to enquire how they feel within the company. They provide the employees with newsletters and access to forums and account information to keep them informed with what is going on. This helps Cadbury to achieve their aims and objectives as it keeps the staff motivated and satisfied that they know what is happening within the company, if this did no t happen then employees would feel confused and this would affect their skills to perform the tasks. For example: if Cadbury was to introduce a new machine to make the work more efficient and faster, then the employees will require training as soon as possible to ensure that the production will run smoothly and effectively. If this was not done you would find that the employees would be stresses from trying to learn the machine themselves, errors could lead to faulty equipment and the company could lose profit due to the fact the employee was either slow or made an error as he was never given training. This would also make the employee feel very disappointed and could lead them to feel they were not doing their job correctly. In a worse situation the employee could have an accident on that machine, which could lead to a law suit. An employee to a Cadbury would want to achieve the best possible results, to gain profit and ensure the Cadbury is a success so it could continue to provide an income, if Cadbury was to collapse then the employee would then be affected as they would have to seek further employment. Customers A customer who is interested or purchases a product that Cadbury provided, also become stakeholders. Customers are external stakeholders of Cadbury which does not directly link them with the company, but have a major part of helping Cadbury meet their aims and objectives, without customers none of the aims could be met and Cadbury SMART objective method could not possibly be met and the business would just collapse. Cadbury customers are mainly interested in the price of the product and the hygiene of the factories and the machinery. Managers Managers have a key part in Cadbury as a stakeholder as they are interested how the business is run and how the employees are being motivated, to achieve the targets set by the company; they are interested in the control of the company, salaries and bonuses that could help them to influence the staff to perform the relevant objectives. The managers have a fear of loss profit as they want job security as it would be hard for them to find another job especially if the company have to re-locate or stop producing. Owners Owners are also stakeholders and these are the people who can control what Cadbury achieve and how they run their business, an area of interest for the owners of Cadbury is to maintain a good relationship with the suppliers and keeping financiers happy as Cadbury are always marketing and researching new ideas for chocolate products that having a well-established and not in debt with suppliers or other financiers ie: banks, taxman or employees, with provide them with bigger opportunities and the flexibility to produce the products when and when they can, so owners of Cadbury must make sure they use their money wisely. Local Community The local community can play a major part in Cadbury business objectives as they are stakeholders, who live in or work in the area where the factories are producing the products, this could have interests in the pollution or the traffic that the factory is creating, leading to complaints. The owners could decide they want to work all night and this could affect the residents who wish to sleep but cannot due to the noise that the factory works are making. Yet on the other hand Cadbury could open up a new factory in a new area, and this could create jobs and provide them people with an income lower the employability statistics in the area of job seekers and improve their quality of life. Government The Government are also stakeholders and take interest in the laws and legislation of Cadbury, the governments decisions can have an impact on the aims and objectives as the laws they enforce can actually shut the company down, they have to ensure the factory is following the health and safety and that the hygiene levels are met as they are producing a food product. The government also have a interest to see Cadbury achieve there aims and objectives as if the company stops producing products, staff would then be made redundant and then the employment rates will drop and no contributions will be made to the gross national product. Another interest that the government would have is that the company achieve their aims and objectives as they employ a lot of staff and each staff member would have to pay tax that would then be used for healthcare and education. Suppliers Suppliers are stakeholder within Cadbury. Cadbury are currently buying products from over 40,000 suppliers around the world; Cadbury strive to work with their suppliers giving them the opportunity to give suggestions on how they would improve quality of efficiency, this gives the supplier the ability to be flexible and feel appreciated and allows room for a very solid business relationship. Cadbury undertakes an evaluation on all potential suppliers to ensure that they are a fair trade company, such as standards that have to be met by the environmental protection and ethical labour practices. Suppliers would take interest into Cadbury as they supply the materials to Cadbury to produce their products, they want to see the business succeed, so that their orders dont stop coming and they still receive a regular income.

The Dramatic Significance of Act 3 Scene 4 of The Banquet Scene of Will

The Dramatic Significance of Act 3 Scene 4 of The Banquet Scene of William Shakespeare's Macbeth Throughout this scene we can see that both versions have been created to show the best interpretation of the play Macbeth. Polanski's version is more realistic but I feel that it does not show the play in the way in which Shakespeare had intended as this version was created by a film producer who had added extra scenes and changed lines for some of the characters. He also used special effects which made the play more of a viewing pleasure and helped create the realistic effect. The BBC version is less realistic as it was a low budget production and was stage produced. In this production there where no attempt to create a detailed set which left it to the viewer to imagine the details of the scene. This made it harder to understand and to know what was going on. The BBC version uses only Shakespeare's lines and has no extra scenes. Therefore it is more authentic and true to Shakespeare's vision although it is limited by the knowledge and understanding of the viewer who may not be able to understand all that Shakespeare was trying to indicate or tell. The scene opens with Macbeth talking to the Lords at the banquet he has thrown to celebrate his coronation. The Lords thank him for this and then Macbeth then talks about how he would, "mingle with society" rather than be a dictator. In the BBC stage production, the most striking aspects at the opening are that the banquet hall is very dark and only the 'top table' is shown through the entire scene, so we really don't get the impression that it's a proper banquet as such. Also Macbeth has an ... ...that he will go and see the witches, and when he says, 'And betimes I will-to the weird sisters:' he is accepting the evil that has infiltrated him. He now thinks that it will be easier to continue with the blood shed, rather than seek redemption for the murders that he has already committed. He hints that there may be voices controlling him. Lady Macbeth's response is one of worry, ('You lack the season of all natures, sleep'). This is a homely remedy rather than one which will make any real difference. Lady Macbeth cannot understand the evil any more, and she is out of her depth. This is the start of the breakdown of their relationship. The most chilling aspect of this scene comes right at the end. Macbeth says, 'we are but young in deed', and this shows us that there may be more heinous crimes to come in the play.
